Set up an automated follow-up email

Why following up on your link clickers? Or let’s call them now website visitors

Here is why you want to follow up on your website visitors from previous campaigns:

  • They showed more attention to what you have to offer.
  • They visited your website and understand your product better.
  • They’re more likely to convert to customers than subscribers who didn’t click your link.

To create an automated follow-up email for your website visitors in Automizy, go to “Automations” and click “Create automation”.

Choose the blank canvas to build your automation:

Name your automation to make it easier to identify.

Your email trigger is the event that will launch your follow-up email.

In our case here, our automation trigger is the tag we attached to link clickers in the email campaign.

Select as a trigger “Get a tag”

Select the tag you are attaching to your campaign’s link clickers and click “Ok” to save your trigger.

Now you’ve selected your tag, you can click on the PLUS (+) icon to add your email.

The + icon allows you to add elements to your email automation like:

  • Emails,
  • Waiting periods,
  • Conditions,
  • Or other actions.

For website visitors’ follow-up campaign, it is best to add a waiting period right after your trigger.

The waiting period allows you to add a wait time between the moment when a subscriber clicks the link and when the follow-up email is sent.

If you do not apply a waiting period after your trigger, your follow-up email will send immediately when a subscriber clicks the link. And that’s not the best option, you want your subscribers to have time learning about your product or business and then follow them up.

Click on the “wait for” option to add a waiting period after your follow-up trigger, and enter the waiting period you want to apply.

Click on “Ok” to save

Now that you applied your waiting period after a subscriber clicks a link in a campaign, you can add your follow-up email.

Select your email editor to design your email, or choose an existing template and click in “Create”.

In this follow-up email, I’ll use a plain text email to make my follow-up email feel personal to my link clickers.

Add your email set up and subject line. Click next to proceed to design your email.

Enter your email copy and design it, then click next once you finish.

Upon clicking next in your email editor, you’ll have a preview email tab where you can:

  • Send a test email to see how the email looks like in inbox.
  • Or display it on different screens and to verify the responsiveness of your email.

Click on “Done” at the top right of your window to confirm and add your follow-up email.

Now you have your email set up properly, just click “Ok” and you’ll have your automated follow-up campaign ready to be published.

Now you’re all set, you’ll see how your whole email automation looks like.

At the top right you have to buttons:

  • Close: To save and close your automation, and you can edit it or publish it another time.
  • Publish: To start running your follow-up email automation

Once automation is all ready and you can start running it, click on “Publish”

When clicking “Publish” you will be asked to select:

  • No, pull in only new contacts: To include subscribers who receive the tag after you publish your follow-up automation.
  • Yes, pull in old & new contacts: To include subscribers who already have the tag before publishing your automation.

Once you select your preferred option, your automation will be running and subscribers’ who clicked a specific link in a previous campaign will start receiving follow-up emails.
